Frequently Asked Questions

Can we walk to the event?

If you are able to walk to the event area, we encourage you to do so. If you are crossing Stillwater Blvd/Cty Road 14 from the north, it is important for you to use the crosswalks at the signal lights on Lake Elmo Ave or by the Elementary School for everyone's safety.

Where should we park?

If you need to drive and park, please use open street parking for the event:

  • East of the Old Village Area/Lake Elmo Ave on Layton or Laverne, and near Lion's Park
  • 33rd St N (south of the railroad tracks), accessing the street from the west off of Klondike
  • Lake Elmo Ave, between 30th-32nd St N
  • Please avoid parking in the parking lots of our local restaurants, as this is a very busy time of year for them.

What streets will be closed?

Lake Elmo Avenue will be closed from County Road 14 to 32nd St N. It will not be accessible from any side streets by order of the Washington County Sheriff Department. Public Safety staff will monitor all intersections, so please respect the safety of the community and take an alternative route. The roads will begin closing at 2:00 pm and will remain closed until the crowd disperses after 5:00 pm. To get around the event area, please follow the detour to Manning Ave.

What if there is inclement weather?

We will watch the weather closely and communicate updates beginning as early as the afternoon of December 5th. Any and all updates will be communicated via the Connect Lake Elmo Facebook page and this website. We will also work with the City of Lake Elmo and partner agencies to spread the word about any updates to the event. In the event of extreme weather   (below zero and/or 6+ inches of snow within a few hours of the event), the event will be cancelled for safety reasons.
