Resources: 100th Anniversary Events & Promotions

Thank You, Lake Elmo Businesses and Organizations!

Connect Lake Elmo is thrilled to compile a multitude of events, anniversary-themed products/services, and stories that highlight the centennial celebration of Lake Elmo. As part of the month-long festivities, the City of Lake Elmo is hosting a Centennial Street Dance and Celebration event on September 13th (link coming soon). Businesses, organizations, and neighborhoods are also encouraged to host an event or activity to celebrate Lake Elmo's centennial celebration any time in September 2025. If you have an event already on the calendar, consider weaving in the 100th Anniversary in a fun way (contests, scavenger hunt, etc.). Lastly, consider co-hosting an event with another business or organization in Lake Elmo. This page is dedicated to helping you through the process of creating engagement, marketing materials, and submitting your event/promotion to the Connect Lake Elmo website so we can help get the word out!

Ways to Get Involved

In general, there are 3 ways to engage in the celebration:

  • Community (All): Click here to submit memories or your favorite hidden gem in Lake Elmo!
  • Organizations/Businesses: Submit an event in September to celebrate 100 years (go to the bottom of the page)
  • Businesses: Highlight a special product/service and give back to the Lake Elmo community

General Process / Roles / Timing

Connect Lake Elmo will primarily leverage social media and The Fresh (The City of Lake Elmo's weekly newsletter) as regular communication vehicles. We will maintain the events calendar and post details about specific events the week before, so please make sure to include pictures in your form!

  • General social media posts will begin mid-August for the broader community, initiated by Connect Lake Elmo. We will link to our Events Calendar which will include a high-level description of all submitted events, and a link to more information (hosted on your social media page(s) / website. This way, if details change, community members will ultimately link to the information you manage. Please make sure to include links and photos when you submit your form!
  • Ideally, businesses/organizations will submit events and promotions by the end of August. NOTE:  All submissions will be reviewed and posted within 2-5 business days.
  • Please share this fun collaboration with other businesses and organizations.

Role of Connect Lake Elmo

  • For the 100th Anniversary Celebration, Connect Lake Elmo (CLE) led the branding and overall structure for the month-long celebration. While our group is not hosting a specific event, we are supporting the City of Lake Elmo, various businesses and organizations, with a centralized calendar and marketing strategy.
  • If you have questions about any of the specific events, please contact that organization directly.
  • Connect Lake Elmo is run completely by a volunteer Board/Leadership Committee and donations from local businesses help fund basic expenses such as website hosting and general supplies for our signature events (4th of July / Light Up Lake Elmo). If you are interested in supporting our community events and online resources (calendar of events, list of businesses, Community Spotlights, etc.), we are appreciative of donations in any amount. Donate to Connect Lake Elmo.

Promoting the Anniversary Event in September

  • Connect Lake Elmo will primarily leverage social media and The Fresh (The City of Lake Elmo's weekly newsletter) as regular communication vehicles. We will maintain the master calendar of events on our website and highlight details about specific events on social media the week before, so please make sure to include pictures in your form!
  • Additionally, we have partnered with City of Lake Elmo to promote the month-long festivities, as well as the Centennial Street Dance & Celebration on Sept 13 (hosted by the City) to local magazines and newspapers.
  • A shoutout to Lake Elmo Bank for featuring the anniversary celebration on the backside of their mailers in August.
  • Posters will be printed posted around Lake Elmo with information about the celebration and a QR code / website. If you would like a poster for your business/organization, please email connectlakeelmo@gmail.com.
  • You! We are relying on our community to spread the word and make this event the best it can be! Consider adding your event/promotion to your website, social media accounts, and create a FB event. Leverage the tools below to help keep the brand consistent and please help us promote this special occasion! THANK YOU!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are businesses able to participate in the Centennial Street Dance & Celebration on Sept. 13?

A:  The planning committee for the Sept 13th event is comprised of city staff, Mayor Cadenhead, City Council members (rotating to comply with the open meeting law), the Washington County Sherriff's Department, Lake Elmo Fire Department, and members of the Lake Elmo Rotary. At this time, activities are limited to what the committee has planned (which will be announced soon). Stay tuned for more updates.

Q: Our Non-Profit is in a neighboring city. Can we host an event in/for Lake Elmo to celebrate?

A:  If your organization is already on the list of organizations that support the residents of Lake Elmo, we welcome your participation! Please just be mindful of where the event is held.

Q: Will you continue to highlight product promotions After this celebration?

A:  September of 2025 is an exception to our policy. Connect Lake Elmo has a very specific mission and does not have the resources to promote sales and business-related activities in terms of product/service promotion. For the anniversary, we are hoping businesses create fun products and services that highlight a thematic offering for customers (e.g. specialty menu items and Lake Elmo merchandise). They are also strongly encouraged to give back a portion of sales to a Lake-Elmo non-profit.
