In 2025, Lake Elmo celebrates 100 years as a township/city! Local organizations, businesses, and neighborhoods are creating a wonderful mix of events to celebrate this special occasion, and the full calendar of events will be finalized by late August. Some businesses are also creating limited edition products or services to celebrate the anniversary, with a give-back donation to Lake Elmo initiatives and organizations. Still known for its rural character, Lake Elmo was also one of Minnesota’s first resort destinations. In 1925 the small commercial district (now known as the Old Village/Main Street area in Lake Elmo) incorporated as a village, and in 1972, the village of Lake Elmo and East Oakdale Township joined to become the City of Lake Elmo...
While Lake Elmo Township was technically established in December of 1925, we are celebrating the 100th Anniversary in September! Check out the Events Calendar for a month full of special celebrations to honor our Centennial year. The month kicks off with the annual Community Day Picnic at Lake Elmo Bank on Friday, September 5 (4-7 pm). This event is free to attend and open to all!
